Ravenswood
2006 Syrah, Sonoma County

wine label

Story

  • Ravenswood was founded in 1976 by Joel Peterson, now officially regarded "God Father" of the American Red Zinfandel movement. Joel brought prominence to his classic single vineyard wines, as well his widely acclaimed Vintner's blend and County series.

    Description

  • A dry, juicy, fullll-bodied, red wine with bright jammy red currant and boysenberry flavors accented by savory and smoky spiciness.
  • Why Drink This Wine

  • Mostly Syrah with Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Viognier. 2 years aging in French oak (25% new). Ravenswood's best Rhone bottling. In the past, many of these grapes would have been dedicated to Icon, which used to be our top-of-the-line Rhone blend. But with the 2005 vintage, Icon is now a tribute to mixed-black grapes.
  • Additional Information

  • 92% Syrah, 5% Viognier, 2% Grenache,1% Mourvedre
