Tasting Notes

2006 SMALL KIM’S FAVOURITE CHARDONNAY, GISBORNE

“The saying 'good things come in small parcels' applies to wine too. Every vintage we discover
small parcels of exceptional grapes and with a little luck and a lot of work, we craft them into
unique wines that express terroir, as well as the viticulture and winemaking skills and the careful
nurturing by my team. The very best of these wines are bottled for our Small Parcels range.”
– Kim Crawford, Winemaker

A blend of Chardonnay from two vineyards located in Gisborne. Fifty percent from Paul and
Jenny Tietijen’s and fifty percent from Murray McPhail’s, a renowned horticulturist and owner
of Leaderbrand, both in the greater Hexton region of Gisborne. The grapes were machined
harvested in ideal conditions. Fermented separately in 40 percent new American oak, the wine
received full malolatic fermentation and spent six months sur lie in barrel. The Chardonnay was
then blended into this big, bold style of Chardonnay.
