2005 SMALL PARCELS PARK-LANDS VINEYARD GEWURZTRAMINER, GISBORNE
“The saying 'good things come in small parcels' applies to wine too. Every vintage we discover small parcels of exceptional grapes and with a little luck and a lot of work, we craft them into unique wines that express terroir, as well as the viticulture and winemaking skills and the careful nurturing by my team. The very best of these wines are bottled for our Small Parcels range.”
– Kim Crawford, Winemaker
The grapes for this Small Parcel of wine come from Chris and Ann Parker’s Park-Lands Vineyard in Gisborne. The grapes were harvested by both hand and machine in five batches due to the differing levels of ripeness. To maximise the flavour of wine, the batches were all handled separately and whole bunch pressed. Twenty percent of the juice was barrel fermented for three months to add complexity. Each of the Gewurztraminer batches were assessed and the final blend was approximately 75 percent of the total wine crafted. The result is an aromatic Gewurztraminer with touches of lychee and all-spice.
